The current tendency in primary care is to extend the field of action, thanks to training and technology.
Therefore, the Primary Care doctor, i n carrying out routine blood analysis on hypertensive, diabetic patients, etc detects an anomaly in renal function, with reduction in the glomerular flow (FG)or Hidden Renal Disease.
Of the five stages of Renal Insufficiency, the fifth of which is dialysis, the patient is normally found to be at grade II or III.
At this stage of insufficiency, it is the trained Primary Care doctor who will handle its control and maintenance.
So, the diagnosed renal patient, or debutante, is helped to become more aware of his or her disease, and his or her renal, cardiovascular, ocular and neurological complications.
The patient is helped and instructed with regard to the disease, with the supervision of treatments, following the latest international guidelines on the detection of risk factors, anthropometrics, use of MDRD formulas, Cockcroft-Gault, etc.
